Milton Ride Report 25-3-05 with Mark, Kim & Philippe
What to say…..or rather which words am I still able to articulate after being shaken for 256 Ks on the saddle in 11 hours.
Milton is “the cream of the cream” for dirtbikers…but as most of you live nearby, there is nothing new in this. For someone coming from the smokey town, Milton is not next door and is always some sort of a treat. When Mark announced that the ride was on Friday and that it would not be an early start (it is against my religion) I though “This ride got my name written all over it…” . So here I go for a AM 7.30 meeting in Wollongong.
Good to catch-up with you Kim and Mark
Arrived in Milton and ready to go at AM 9.30. From my previous ride there I remembered that I’d better warm-up on the road section before reaching the first snotty hill if I did not want to start the day with my arms all pumped up. The place is sublime and up to my wildest expectations. We covered an amazing distance, had to do two pit stops, and …. had a fantastic time. Everybody did his bid to entertain, Mark falling artistically right next to a river bank (on the dry side…); Kim and I try to rush…to get the camera but too late. I had a fall in a nice and comfy leaves and branches mattress; I was feeling so good in there that I still wonder how I got back on the bike – Mark got this on the camera. And the stories goes on and on and on…We finished the ride at PM 8.30 (through the latest single lanes..) and back in the car just in time to enjoy a delicious pizza on the way.
I was finally in bed by midnight with my blood still loaded with adrenaline.
On Saturday I had another small ride in the Wattagan north of Sydney and realized that my bottom had taken the shape of my KTM saddle. Not a pretty sight but a man has to do what a man got to do…
Thanks a lot Mark and Kim, I thoroughly enjoyed the ride, the conversation and the company. 256Ks is certainly my record, but good company is priceless J
