9-4-05 Nowra Ride with Mark R, Mark C, Kim & Gary
GPS Mark WR250F with one very tired right leg at
the end of the ride.
Garry Weiss WR450F the wheelie king
Mark C WR450F the wheelie prince
Kim KTMEXC Racing machine with six speeds (fast,
faster, very fast, extremely fast, warp speed, gone-eat my dust), dual compound
grips and a hydraulic clutch so it must be fast.
Garry, GPS and I met Mark C at Albatross and commenced riding at 0950. GPS Mark had a flat battery and had to kick for the rest of the day ! He might as well have bought my WR426F (or any two smoke) as it didn't have electric start ha ha.
Yerriyong Trail Road
Saltwater Trail "Quicksand Trail" (Colymea)
Christmas Bush Track - down the steps and came to a
fence at a dead end where we turned around and headed back westwards. I got
stuck on some steps leading up to Honey Suckle Trail - the back wheel fell into
a hole five times after each time I lifted it out ! I was also having fun with
the front end of the KTM as I had a new StoneKing tyre and it was really hooking
up - the front was in the air on every step and incline.
Northern distributor to the F6 - some nice single line track with some rock steps. Mark came down on some downward steps when his front wheel hit a loose rock. I stopped right on the edge, another few centimetres and I would have landed on him ! We turned east at the lookout back towards Deans Gap Road.
Power Lines
Dean's Gap Road
Monkey Gum to Wombat Flat, then up the rocky link
road to track up to Sandiman Head . This section was hot as it was exposed to
the sun ! Along Sandiman back to Monkey Gum - tight but flowing with only two
fallen trees obstructing the path.
Turpentine Road to Cassia
Across to Gnatillia
Wandean Road - Mark C left us here to return to his
car.
Lunch at Wandandean 1400. Pat cooked me a special
meal of works burger with chips washed down with a "V". We saw some Illawarra
DSMRA riders out on a jaunt.
Wandean - Gnatillia - Cassia - Turpentine - Powerlines - Deans Gap Road - Powerlines - Yerriyong Trail - A fast non-stop run back to the car with each of us taking turns to lead.
Back to Albatross at 1600 after 127ks. Great ride, warm but not much dust. And I didn't drop the bike or break anything (very unusual for me at Nowra !) The rocks at Nowra improve your riding skills.
