Milton to Araluen 2 Day Ride 4&5 March (Looking 4 Addo Tour)
What a great weekend had by all with 16 riders started and 15 riders finishing
and only 1 flat tyre, covering approx 400k's. This ride started out leaving
Milton Fire Station approx 8.20am and headed out to Kingaman Mountain before
hitting the large hill wit very little problems. We then heading south across
the mountain before hitting the single line trail in and around Clyde Ridge
Road. There were plenty of single line trails and plenty of dust before we
stopped for lunch at Termeil at approx 11.30am. We refueled and headed to
Nelligen.
This is when trouble struck Andrew Freeman. He was travelling south on The River
Road south of Shallow Crossing when he came across a white 4WD heading in his
direction. He hit the brakes and slid into the side of the car. A short time
later and a bit of bike straightening and were heading off to Nelligen for
another refuel. It was at this point Andrew decided to pull the pin and head
back to Milton and head to the hospital to check out his right foot. After
having so many problems with his last broken foot he didnt want a repeat
performance.
The rest of us (15) refueled and headed to Araluen in the thick dust. It was the
last trail that bought us bad luck. Norm got a flat tyre. Norm and the sweep
stayed back and the rest of us headed into the Araluen Hotel at approx 5.30pm.
We headed out a little late Sunday morning 9.15am, heading out to concor Turtle
Trail. We all got down with no hassles. We continued on to Nelligen were we
arrived at approx 11am for another refuel. We then followed the powerlines north
towards East Lynn. The power lines bought a few people undone but overall we
managed without too many difficulties.
Again Termeil for lunch then headed back to Milton for a 4.30pm finish. What a
great weekend we had choking on plenty of dust and doing lots of great single
line trails.
